Regional security concerns dominated talks in Abuja as President Bola Tinubu hosted Chadian President Mahamat Déby at the State House. The meeting focused on rising threats across the Lake Chad Basin and efforts to strengthen cross-border cooperation.
President Déby was in Nigeria on a working visit at President Tinubu’s invitation. Both leaders met alongside senior officials from their cabinets, including top defence and foreign affairs representatives, to review ongoing security operations and regional partnerships.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, President Tinubu said discussions centred on joint strategies to tackle insurgency, particularly through the Multinational Joint Task Force. He noted that Nigeria and Chad remain committed to eliminating terrorism while respecting each nation’s sovereignty.
