Nigeria’s influence on European football was on full display as two Super Eagles stars powered Trabzonspor to a crucial 2-1 victory over title rivals Galatasaray, a result that could reshape the Turkish Super Lig race.
Paul Onuachu opened the scoring just minutes into the match, rising above defenders to head home his 22nd goal of the season and hand Trabzonspor an early advantage. The visitors responded in the second half with an equaliser, briefly shifting momentum in a high-pressure contest.
But Chibuike Nwaiwu restored the lead with a well-timed header from a set piece, sealing what proved to be the decisive goal. Trabzonspor then held firm under sustained pressure, with Nwaiwu also playing a key defensive role as Galatasaray pushed for another equaliser.
