Fresh video confirms Nafiu Bala’s presence at ADC leadership unveiling in 2025

A newly surfaced video has confirmed that Nafiu Bala attended the unveiling of the interim leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark in July 2025. The footage shows Bala seated alongside party stakeholders, including Kenneth Okonkwo, during the event held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre. The video has been verified by multiple attendees of the gathering.

At the event, Bala was introduced as the deputy national chairman of the party and briefly acknowledged the recognition. The programme featured key figures such as Lauretta Onochie and Dino Melaye. Party founder Ralph Nwosu also informed attendees that members of the party’s leadership stepped down to allow Mark to assume the role of interim national chairman.

Less than a month after the event, Bala declared himself national chairman of the party and rejected the legitimacy of the Mark-led leadership. He challenged the development in court, insisting he had not resigned and alleging constitutional breaches. The dispute escalated to the Federal High Court in Abuja, where Bala sought to restrain both the rival leadership and the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognising the new executives.

The legal battle has continued with mixed rulings. An appeal filed by Mark was dismissed by the Court of Appeal, which directed all parties to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the case. Following the judgment, INEC announced it would not recognise either faction and would stay away from their activities. The Mark-led group has rejected that position, warning it could affect the party’s participation in the 2027 general election.
