Nigerian singer Omah Lay says he once unfollowed fellow artistes Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy in 2024 because he was dissatisfied with how the Afrobeats industry was evolving.
In an interview with The Fader, the Grammy-nominated artiste said the decision was driven by frustration with divisions within the Nigerian music scene, which he described as split along fan and artiste lines.
Omah Lay said the situation later changed after he collaborated with Davido on the track “With You”, which he described as organic and personal, adding that it strengthened their relationship.

He also said the song earned him his first Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 awards, although it lost out to South Africa’s Tyla.
