Nigerian singer Omah Lay has described himself as the “greatest Afrobeats artiste of the decade”, saying his claim is based on artistic quality rather than popularity or streaming numbers. He made the remarks in a recent interview with Capital Xtra.
The 28-year-old said while factors such as fame, personality and commercial success may not place him at the top in general rankings, he believes his strength lies in the artistry of his music.
Omah Lay, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, rose to prominence in 2020 with hit songs including “You” and “Bad Influence”, after starting his career as a producer.
