Nigerian music icons Fela Kuti and Sade Adu have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of its 2026 class.
The announcement was made during the annual reveal on the television programme American Idol, with Fela honoured posthumously under the Early Influence Award, and Sade inducted in the Performer Category.
Fela, widely regarded as the pioneer of Afrobeat, was recognised for shaping global music through a fusion of West African rhythms, jazz and funk. Sade, a Grammy-winning artist, was honoured for her enduring influence in soul and pop music, with a career spanning several decades.

A total of 18 artistes were selected across four categories by a panel of more than 1,200 industry professionals, with the induction ceremony scheduled for 14 November at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, and to be broadcast in December.
