The Ondo State Police Command says it has foiled a planned bombing in Akure, the state capital, and arrested six suspects linked to the plot.
Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal told reporters on Thursday that the suspects, five men and one woman aged between 39 and 56, were arrested on Wednesday following intelligence reports. He said operatives also recovered components suspected to be Improvised Explosive Devices, alongside other items.
According to him, the suspects had rented an apartment in the Oke-Odu area of Akure, which was allegedly used as a base for assembling explosive devices and planning attacks on government infrastructure. Lawal said a document containing mapped-out target locations was also recovered during the operation.
