Trump, Xi Hold High-Stakes Talks in Beijing Amid Trade and Iran Concerns

United States President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have begun high-level talks in Beijing focused on trade relations, tensions over Taiwan and the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The meetings come as both countries seek to preserve a fragile trade truce while managing growing geopolitical pressures.

During the talks, President Xi warned that mishandling the Taiwan issue could push relations between the two countries into what he described as a dangerous situation. Chinese and American officials said the leaders also discussed the Strait of Hormuz and the impact of the Iran conflict on global energy security and international trade.

President Trump said the discussions were aimed at securing economic gains and improving cooperation between the two countries. Chinese officials, meanwhile, said trade discussions had made progress, with talks also touching on possible Chinese purchases of American oil and other commercial agreements involving major industries.
