Nigerian actor and filmmaker Ibrahim Chatta and multimedia journalist Ayo Adams were among the biggest winners at the Oyo Tourism Awards, a ceremony recently held in Ibadan, Oyo State, celebrating individuals and organisations that contribute significantly to tourism, culture, media and creative development. The event is organised by the Oyo State Government through the Oyo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Ayo Adams received the Youth in Tourism Award in recognition of his impact in media and cultural storytelling, while Ibrahim Chatta was honoured with the Outstanding Tourism Start Up and SME Award for his contribution to tourism through his newly established film village.
Speaking after receiving the award, Adams said the recognition will inspire him to continue his impactful work that positively represents the nation’s heritage and society, stating that storytelling has always been beyond filmmaking for him; it is about preserving culture, documenting people and projecting stories to the world.Â

He expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Government and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the honour, saying it will only inspire him to do more meaningful work. Adams is famous for creating content in the Yoruba dialect, conducting interviews with pedestrians and market women, as well as conducting vox pops with local football fans of 3SC, the Ibadan-based football club.
