Plateau Police Condemn Farm Destruction, Cattle Killings in Barkin Ladi

The Plateau State Police Command has condemned the destruction of farmlands in Lokojoro and the killing of cattle in Nding and Kasuwan Dankali communities of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, describing the incidents as unfortunate and capable of disrupting peace in the area.

In a statement on Wednesday signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah, warned that the command would not tolerate actions capable of triggering a breakdown of law and order. Ewah said security agencies have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of existing restrictions in the area, including the ban on activities of both commercial and private motorcycles within Barkin Ladi Local Government Area imposed by the state government.

The commissioner stated that the restrictions would be strictly enforced in cooperation with other security agencies to maintain peace, and reiterated the ban on commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke NAPEP, on Sallah Day and the day after, noting that the directive remains in force. He further reminded residents that the total ban on commercial motorcycles within the Jos Bukuru metropolis and other areas covered by the Jos master plan is still in place.
