The Department of State Services has arraigned five associates of former Bayelsa governor and ex-petroleum minister Timipre Sylva over allegations that they concealed his whereabouts in connection with the ongoing alleged coup case.
The five — Reuben Ayuba, Musa Mohammed, Friday Paul, Paganengigha Anagaha and Ayebaifife Suobite — were brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of allegedly concealing a fugitive from the law.
The case is tied to the wider alleged coup investigation that first surfaced after the cancellation of Nigeria’s October 1, 2025 Independence Day parade and the later detention of senior military officers. By April this year, six suspects had already been arraigned on treason and terrorism charges, while Sylva was named in court documents as an alleged financier of the plot.
The DSS says the new accused persons became accessories after the fact by hiding Sylva’s whereabouts. The court has adjourned the matter until July 22 for the commencement of trial.
