Manchester United has agreed to a £50 million deal with Chelsea for Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, comprising a guaranteed £48m fee plus £2m in add-ons, with Chelsea retaining a 10% sell-on clause. Santos, 22, is set to undergo a medical before the move is finalised.
Santos joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in 2023 for £18 million, but struggled to nail down consistent minutes, spending time on loan at Nottingham Forest before thriving at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, where he contributed 14 goals and assists in 2024-25 and captained the side.
Back at Stamford Bridge last season, he made 43 appearances across competitions but couldn’t dislodge Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández from Chelsea’s midfield.
The move reflects Santos’s push for regular starts, though competition at Old Trafford, including a reported deal for Ederson, means that’s not guaranteed either.
