A fire broke out at the electronics section of Justrite Superstore in Lagos’s Egbeda-Akowonjo area on Thursday morning, but was extinguished without any casualties, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
LSFRS Controller General Margaret Adeseye said an emergency call was received around 8:15 am, with firefighters from Abesan and Agege stations arriving by 8:28 am. Crews contained the blaze before it could spread to other sections of the commercial building. Preliminary findings suggest the fire originated from the store’s solar inverter system, though investigations continue to confirm the exact cause.
The incident follows a separate fire hours earlier, when a gas-laden tanker caught fire along Abaranje Road in Ikotun after colliding with a road bump, according to Lagos State Emergency Management Agency spokesperson Olawale Afolabi.
