Motorists using the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have been warned to expect traffic disruptions as repair work begins on the Kara Bridge.
The Lagos State Government says the Federal Ministry of Works will replace the bridge’s expansion joint in a project expected to last two weeks. To allow the work to proceed safely, the four-lane carriageway will be reduced to two lanes along a 1.5-kilometre section of the bridge.
Authorities say congestion is likely around the Kara and Fatgbems Turn areas, urging motorists to plan their journeys, use alternative routes where possible and comply with traffic management officials.
The repairs are aimed at improving the safety and durability of the busy transport corridor.
