Experts and stakeholders in the agriculture space have called for a total overhaul of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) agriculture flagship programme, Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP)
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says only 24 per cent of the N1.09 trillion disbursed to farmers had been repaid. But the CBN pushed back, saying about 52.4 per cent or N503 billion had been recovered from the 4.5 million beneficiaries.

Despite the loss, stakeholders described the intention of the scheme as noble, but called for the restructuring of the implementation and involvement of public agencies in the agro-ecosystem to minimise the risks and increase performance level.
