Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election. He won the party’s primary held on Tuesday at Adolak Hall in Osogbo, securing 919 votes.
His victory followed the withdrawal and subsequent resignation of Governor Ademola Adeleke from the PDP on Monday night—hours after ballot papers had already been printed. Electoral committee secretary Sunday Solarin explained that the late announcement made it impossible to amend the ballot, though delegates were informed that Adedamola was the sole remaining aspirant.

Announcing the results, committee chairman Humphrey Abba said 20 votes were invalid, confirming Adedamola as duly elected.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Osun governorship election for August 8, 2026.
