The Aviation Ground Handlers Association of Nigeria, AGHAN, has warned it will withdraw services from indebted airlines from May 6 if outstanding debts are not settled. The association issued a three-day ultimatum running from May 4 to May 6, following what it described as a lack of response from airline operators.
In a notice dated April 30 and addressed to the Airlines Operators of Nigeria, AGHAN said repeated efforts to resolve the issue had failed. The letter, signed by chairman Olaniyi Adigun and vice-chairman Ahmed Bashir, stated that the continued non-payment has placed financial and operational strain on its members.
The association said the planned action was initially set to begin on May 1 but was postponed due to Workers’ Day celebrations. It warned that failure to meet the deadline would lead to a complete withdrawal of ground handling services and possible legal action to recover the debts.

AGHAN, however, says it remains open to dialogue to avoid disruption to flight operations. Relevant authorities, including the aviation minister and regulatory agencies, have been notified due to the potential safety, security, and economic implications.
