Ahmed Musa to Captain Super Eagles at Unity Cup Return in London

Ahmed Musa has been named captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles for the 2025 Unity Cup, marking his return to the national team after a spell on the sidelines.

Kano Pillars confirmed their veteran forward will lead the squad at the four-nation invitational tournament, to be held from 26 to 31 May at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.

The former Leicester City winger was absent during March’s World Cup qualifiers, but national team selectors have recalled the 31-year-old, who has impressed with club form this season.

The Unity Cup, dormant since 2004, returns with an expanded line-up: Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago. The Super Eagles lifted the trophy in the tournament’s inaugural edition.

Semi-final fixtures will see Trinidad and Tobago face Jamaica on 27 May, followed by Nigeria’s showdown with arch-rivals Ghana the next day. Dwight Yorke, now managing Trinidad & Tobago, adds further pedigree to the competition.
