Aid Truck Accident in Gaza Kills at Least 20 People

At least 20 Palestinians have died and dozens more were injured after a truck carrying humanitarian aid overturned in central Gaza. Local officials say the vehicle tipped over onto a crowd of people who had gathered in desperate search of food and basic supplies.

The incident happened on Wednesday, with Gaza’s Government Media Office blaming Israeli forces for directing the vehicle onto what they described as an “unsafe road”. Hundreds of civilians were waiting when the truck lost control, according to Civil Defence officials.

The tragedy comes as humanitarian groups warn of worsening famine and disease in the enclave. Medical sources reported at least three more deaths from malnutrition on the same day, including a child and an infant in northern Gaza.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 188 people, which includes 94 children, have died from starvation or malnutrition since October. Aid agencies continue to report severe obstacles in delivering and distributing food and medical supplies.
