Akpabio, Remi Tinubu hail Nigerian workers on May Day

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and First Lady Remi Tinubu have praised the resilience and dedication of Nigerian workers as the country marked the 2025 May Day celebrations. In separate statements, both leaders acknowledged workers’ contributions to national growth and stability.

Akpabio, speaking through his media adviser, commended Nigerian workers as the backbone of the economy and pledged the National Assembly’s commitment to safeguarding their rights. He assured that no worker would be victimised for lawfully demanding their entitlements or seeking redress.

First Lady Remi Tinubu expressed gratitude to workers across all sectors, describing them as the driving force behind the nation’s progress. She emphasised the dignity of labour and called for fair opportunities for all.

This year’s Workers’ Day comes amid rising living costs and delayed implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage announced last year, with the Nigeria Labour Congress urging action to ease the economic hardship facing workers nationwide.
