It was a rowdy session on the senate floor on Tuesday after Senator Jarigbe, representing Cross River North, claimed ranking senators got the sum of ₦500 million each.
The Senator, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, made the claim during the debate on the budget padding allegation leveled against the leadership of the senate by Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central.

Speaking on the matter, Senator Jarigbe said the alleged padding issue had been clarified, since the controversial N3.7tn, as alleged by Senator Ningi, had been clarified by the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee to be captured under the Government Owned Enterprises and first line charge items of the budget.
Speaking further, Senator Jarigbe said he also had a grouse to address seeing as that was the order of the day. He said some so-called senior senators got N500m each, and as a ranking senator, he didn’t go to the press when he didn’t get.
