Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has identified two key positions where Nigerian forward Victor Boniface can contribute as the club enters a crucial phase of the season.
He believes the forward offers versatility, capable of operating both as a centre-forward and a winger. However, since returning from injury, the striker has struggled to reclaim a starting role, with Patrik Schick and Nathan Tella ahead of him in the pecking order.

Despite limited club minutes, Boniface was included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, featuring briefly against Zimbabwe. He returned to Leverkusen and found the net in a 3-1 win over Bochum last Friday.
With Florian Wirtz unavailable, Victor Boniface is expected to start alongside Schick in Tuesday’s DFB-Pokal clash against Arminia Bielefeld.
