Army Destroys Dozens of Illegal Refineries in Fresh Niger Delta Crackdown

Nigerian Army Dismantles Illegal Refineries, Arrests 16 in Niger Delta

Troops of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, have intensified operations against oil theft and pipeline sabotage across Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, and Akwa Ibom states, destroying multiple illegal refining sites and seizing large quantities of stolen petroleum products. The operation, conducted between July 14 and 20, is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the Niger Delta.

In Rivers State, six illegal refining sites were uncovered near a wellhead in Ahoada West, with over 300,000 litres of stolen crude oil and 21,000 litres of diesel recovered. Similar raids in ONELGA and Ikwerre led to the interception of boats and vehicles carrying stolen products, as well as the dismantling of illegal connection points and storage facilities.
