The Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed Olayide Adelami as the new deputy governor of the state.
Mr. Adelami, who was nominated on Wednesday for appointment as the new deputy governor by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was screened in the Assembly during plenary yesterday.
His confirmation by the lawmakers was sequel to the submission and consideration of a report by the House Selection Committee, Chaired by the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji.
Before his final confirmation, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Abayomi Akinruntan, who submitted the report had recommended the confirmation of the appointment of Adelami.
Akinruntan said the nominee, who hails from the same hometown of Owo with late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, had been properly screened, noting that he responded to all questions raised by the committee in an eloquent and explicit manner.
He said Adelami had a clear understanding of the position, stressing that he possessed the required academic qualifications and was fit to accomplish the task.
