Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to cut short his two-week working visit to France and address the worsening security situation in Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesman, Paul Ibe, Atiku criticised the president’s continued absence, citing recent attacks in Plateau and Benue States that have claimed over 100 lives in the past two weeks.

He accused Tinubu of neglecting his responsibilities while Nigeria grapples with escalating violence, including territorial advances by Boko Haram and increasing hardship among citizens.
Atiku questioned the president’s commitment to national duty, saying leadership demands presence during crisis. He described Tinubu’s prolonged stay abroad as a “dereliction of duty on a catastrophic scale.”
