Belgium’s Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot has said the situation in Gaza bears the hallmarks of genocide, describing the scale of destruction, death and deprivation as intolerable.
In remarks published by ‘Humo’ magazine, Mr Prévot expressed deep personal concern over what he views as deliberate actions contributing to the suffering of the civilian population. He believes the ongoing blockade, particularly the restriction of food and humanitarian aid, amounts to a war crime and has condemned it as morally indefensible.

He argued that both Belgium and the European Union must take stronger measures to hold parties accountable. According to him, sanctions should be imposed not only on political and military leaders from both sides of the conflict but also on settlers involved in the forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank.
The minister warned that repeated condemnation without concrete action will do little to halt the ongoing crisis.
