Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi has been named Nottingham Forest’s PFA Community Champion for the 2024/25 season.
Despite enduring a difficult campaign—scoring just once in 26 appearances and spending extended spells sidelined through injury—the 27-year-old made a notable impact off the pitch.
In March, Awoniyi hosted a community meal in Nottingham, offering Iftar to Muslims and a Lent-time break for Christians. He also maintained a visible connection with fans, applauding supporters after matches and engaging online.

Forest confirmed the award on Tuesday, recognising his community engagement during a challenging year.
The striker recently underwent surgery for a ruptured intestine sustained in a match against Leicester City but has since recovered and was present at the club’s final game of the season against Chelsea.
Awoniyi’s resilience and generosity have earned praise beyond the football pitch.
