In a recent interview, singer-songwriter Tems shared a remarkable experience from 2020 when three big global music icons; Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Drake, reached out to her within a span of three days.
Reflecting on what she described as a surreal moment, Tems said that Beyoncé’s team was the first to make contact, soon followed by direct messages from Drake and Rihanna.
Born Temilade Openiyi, Tems shot to prominence in 2020 through her collaboration with Wizkid on the widely celebrated track ‘Essence.’ That same year, she launched her debut extended play, ‘For Broken Ears’, which further solidified her standing in the global music arena.
In 2022, she co-wrote ‘Lift Me Up’ for Rihanna, a ballad that appeared on the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack. Last year, Tems garnered her first Grammy Award for her contribution to the hit track ‘Wait for U’ by Future, which also featured Drake.
