The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has hailed Chidimma Adetshina’s resilience and determination following her remarkable performance at the 2024 Miss Universe pageant in Mexico. Adetshina, who emerged as the first runner-up, was also crowned Miss Universe Africa, earning widespread praise across Nigeria.
In a social media post, Odumegwu-Ojukwu described Adetshina’s journey as a testament to perseverance, calling it Nigeria’s best outing at the global beauty competition. She added, “Resilience, perseverance, and true grit will always win the day. Kudos to Chidimma Adetshina, who has done the nation proud.”

Adetshina, born in Soweto, South Africa, became a prominent figure after her participation in Miss South Africa 2024 and overcame significant challenges to excel on the world stage. She narrowly lost the Miss Universe crown to Denmark’s Victoria Kjær, who emerged as the overall winner.
Her achievement solidifies her status as a trailblazer, with her title as Miss Universe Africa bringing pride and recognition to Nigeria on the global stage.
