Africa’s Champion, Timilehin Doko, has reinforced his dominance at the national level by clinching the 5th Janet Adowei Scrabble Championship title in Lagos. Mr. Doko narrowly defeated Africa Youth Champion, David Ojih, in a thrilling final round on Table 1, scoring 480-475 to record 14 wins and 4 losses, with an impressive cumulative score of +1077.
Day One leader Joseph Okere saw his title hopes dashed after five consecutive defeats, paving the way for a dramatic reshuffle at the top. Doko held firm against challenges from Abdulmumin Jimoh and Ojih, setting the stage for an intense final showdown.

In the decisive 18th round, Doko’s experience and skill earned him the top prize of ₦750,000, edging out Ojih, who finished with a cumulative score of +971 to secure second place and ₦450,000. Jimoh came third with a score of +658, earning ₦350,000.
The tournament rewarded the top 15 players, highlighting the growing competitive spirit of scrabble in Nigeria.
