Boniface Set for Bremen Loan Switch

Nigerian forward Victor Boniface is on the verge of joining Werder Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, with only his signature pending after completing a medical, according to reports in Germany.

Bremen’s interest emerged at the start of the week, but the club moved swiftly to secure terms with Leverkusen, who themselves announced the dismissal of coach Erik ten Hag and the signing of midfielder Ezequiel Fernández in a busy day of transfer activity.

Boniface, 24, scored 32 goals and registered 12 assists in 61 appearances for Leverkusen, though he was not in Ten Hag’s long-term plans. Italian side Milan had shown interest in the summer but a move collapsed over medical concerns.

Bremen are also targeting Cameron Puertas, while midfielder Romano Schmid is expected to remain and take on a more influential role.
