SIM Services Disrupted Nationwide Amid Platform Switch, Say Telecom Operators

Mobile users in Nigeria are facing temporary disruptions in SIM-related services following a system migration ordered by the National Identity Management Commission.

The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria, ALTON, confirmed the development in a statement signed by its Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo, and Publicity Secretary, Damian Udeh.

Operators say the switch to a new identity verification platform has triggered technical issues affecting SIM swaps, replacements, and new activations.

While the upgrade aims to enhance identity management, the transition has temporarily halted key services across all mobile networks.

ALTON says it’s working closely with the NCC and NIMC to resolve the matter and has urged subscribers to postpone SIM-related requests for now.

Updates will be provided in due course.
