CBN issues warning over phishing scams

The Central Bank of Nigeria has warned members of the public about fraudulent messages and links being circulated online to gain access to personal bank accounts.

In a statement issued on April 21 and released on April 22, the Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Hakama Sidi Ali, said the fake messages claim to originate from the bank and are designed to mislead users and compromise their personal data.

The CBN said the scams involve deceptive emails and online links that falsely reference the bank’s leadership and policies, urging recipients to click and provide sensitive information.
