Chelsea Eye Nigeria U20 Midfield Prospect Kamaldeen

Chelsea are monitoring Nigeria’s teenage midfielder Abduljelil Kamaldeen, who has been tipped as one of the country’s brightest emerging footballers. The 16-year-old Kwara Football Academy talent caught the Blues’ attention after an impressive late appearance in Nigeria’s 1-0 loss to Norway at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.

Kamaldeen had earlier impressed scouts at the WAFU Zone B U20 Cup in Ghana, where he scored against Benin and delivered strong performances in key matches against Niger and Ivory Coast. His pace, creativity, and attacking instincts have already drawn comparisons with Alex Iwobi and even Jay-Jay Okocha.

Although FIFA rules prevent him from joining Chelsea until 2027, when he turns 18, the club’s Head of African Talent, Seyi Olofinjana, is expected to track his development closely throughout the tournament and beyond.
