President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally asked the House of Representatives to confirm the appointment of the new Service Chiefs.
The President made the request in a letter, which was read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, during Thursday’s plenary. His request is in line with provisions of Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act. Cap A20 Laws the Federation of Nigeria 2004 which require that these sort of appointments be signed off by law makers. The president also specifically asked lawmakers for a speedy confirmation.
The appointees put forward for confirmation are Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. T. A Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla Chief of Naval Staff and AVM H.B Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.
