Court Adjourns ‘Killaboi’ Murder Trial To May 21

A Lagos High Court sitting at the JIC Taylor Courthouse in Igbosere has adjourned the trial of Benjamin Nnayereugo, also known as Killaboi, to May 21 and 22, 2026. The adjournment followed a power outage that interrupted cross-examination proceedings in the alleged murder case.

The court, presided over by Justice Ibironke Harrison, had been hearing testimony from Cordelia Onuwaghagbe, mother of the victim, Augusta Onuwaghagbe. She told the court she was contacted by someone claiming to be the defendant’s father after his arrest and was offered a meeting, which she declined until his return to Nigeria.

The witness also said the defendant sent her one thousand five hundred and thirty dollars after her daughter’s death and had previously opened a cryptocurrency account for the victim. She added that she was unaware of any financial support from the defendant for burial arrangements.

Prosecutors allege that Nnayereugo murdered Augusta Onuwaghagbe at his residence in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023, before fleeing the country. He was later arrested in Qatar in February 2025 and extradited to Nigeria in April 2025, where he has pleaded not guilty to charges including murder and interference with a corpse.
