A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed October 30 to hear a preliminary objection filed by Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State against an initial suit filed by his deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, seeking to stop his impeachment.
The presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, fixed the same date for hearing the deputy governor’s counter affidavit.
Justice Nwite also fixed the hearing of an application filed by the Ondo State House of Assembly and its Speaker, challenging the jurisdiction of the court to issue a restraining order against an impeachment of Mr Aiyedatiwa.
The House of Assembly has also filed for a stay of execution of the interim order of the court.
