The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has warned that criminal gangs are increasingly exploiting technology to expand their operations. He said terrorist groups and other syndicates are adapting quickly to avoid defeat.
Egbetokun made the remarks in Abuja at the opening of an executive capacity building workshop for top police commanders. He stressed the need for foresight, creativity, and agility in leading the force in an environment of constant change.

The IGP highlighted recent attacks on security operatives, noting that at least 53 personnel, including soldiers, police officers, and civil defence staff, were killed in the last two weeks. He said the killings underscore the scale and persistence of the threat.
He urged police leaders to combine strategy with resolve, patience with speed, and endurance with imagination.
