Dangote Pledges Climate Fund to Aid Flood-Hit Nigerian Communities

Billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote has announced plans to back a climate resilience fund targeting flood-prone communities across Nigeria.

In a letter to President Bola Tinubu, Dangote praised the administration’s infrastructure drive, highlighting the Bar Beach land reclamation project, which he described as a lasting legacy. He also lauded major road initiatives, including the Lagos–Calabar and Sokoto–Badagry highways.

Citing the impact of deadly floods in Texas and rising sea levels at home, he stressed the urgency of climate action.

The Aliko Dangote Foundation, which spends $35 million annually on African development programmes, is set to unveil a nationwide initiative to support vulnerable communities.
