The World Health Organisation says it is working with partners to help scale up emergency health response in three flood-affected communities in Mokwa Local Government Area, Niger State. The flood, which struck on May 29, killed at least 200 people, injured 186 and displaced more than 3,000 residents.

In a post on X on Monday, the WHO said it is conducting a public health risk assessment to respond to potential epidemic-prone diseases and health threats in the area. The agency said it is preparing to send emergency medical supplies and equipment to support local primary healthcare services.
