Delta State Police have debunked reports of a bandit attack at Girls’ Secondary School, Utagba-Ogbe in Kwale, describing the claims as entirely false. The Command says the panic began with misinformation among students and was amplified by unverified online posts suggesting gunfire and community unrest.
Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda ordered an immediate deployment to the school, where officers confirmed from staff that no incident occurred. Nearby schools were also checked and found to be calm and operating normally. Parents who rushed to retrieve their children were urged to remain calm, with authorities warning against the spread of rumours capable of disrupting academic activities.
