Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, have formally joined the All Progressives Congress. At a ceremony in Asaba, they were received by Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and Governor Hope Uzodimma, among others.
Governor Oborevwori described the move as a “historic” moment for Delta State, saying it followed wide consultations.
He announced that all members of the Delta State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, and councillors would also defect to the APC.

Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said the decision was bold, patriotic, and made in the best interests of the people. He stressed the importance of aligning Delta more closely with the federal government in Abuja.
Vice President Shettima hailed the defection as a political tsunami and a significant boost for the ruling party, which is seeking to consolidate power across the South-South region.
