Djokovic prevails in longest quarterfinal in Wimbledon history

Novak Djokovic reached his 15th Wimbledon semifinal — an eighth in a row — with a gruelling five-set win over third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime on Tuesday, in a match that stretched past five hours on Centre Court.

The 39-year-old Serb won three of five sets, needing a 10-point super tiebreak to close it out.

It marked the third time this season Djokovic has gone the distance in a five-setter, underscoring both his endurance and Auger-Aliassime’s resistance throughout. The Canadian was broken twice in the match but repeatedly fought back to level things up before Djokovic ultimately prevailed in the decisive tiebreak.

The win sets up a semifinal clash between Djokovic and defending champion Jannik Sinner, who beat Sinner in straight sets at this stage last year. Djokovic is chasing a record 25th Grand Slam title and an eighth Wimbledon crown.
