The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD FCTA), has initiated a three-day warning strike over unpaid salaries, allowances, and other demands, causing disruptions in government hospitals across Abuja. The strike follows a three-week ultimatum issued last year that was not addressed by authorities.
Dr George Ebong, President of ARD FCTA, made the announcement at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, highlighting the growing dissatisfaction among doctors. He explained that the decision to strike was a direct result of a Congress held on Tuesday, where members voiced frustration over persistent neglect of their welfare.

Dr Ebong emphasised that doctors in Abuja are being treated as “abandoned projects” and called for immediate intervention from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike. He warned that failure to address the issues could lead to an indefinite closure of hospitals in the city.
This latest strike follows an earlier warning in December 2024, when ARD FCTA threatened action if their demands were not met. The doctors have called for more attention to be paid to their working conditions, alongside infrastructural improvements in the capital.
