The Department of State Service (DSS) says it is carrying out an investigation on an incident that occurred on Thursday between its staff and “a mob” at the Garki Market, Abuja.
This was announced in a statement released by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, and made available to the press.
Multiple news outlets report that operatives of the secret police shot one person and injured another in the Garki market of the Federal Capital.
But Afunanya says that Information at the disposal of the Service was that its FCT Police Command responded to an SOS from their field operatives who allegedly came under a mob attack in the said market.
He revealed that the Service has commenced an investigation into the matter. The public is assured that details of the inquiries will be communicated as soon as possible.
He also assured the citizenry that the Service will not hesitate to mete out a proper disciplinary measure(s) to its staff if found culpable or running foul of Standard Operating Procedures on dealing with a member of the public.
