Nigeria has unveiled a 12-man D’Tigers squad for the FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers, with newly appointed head coach David Fizdale taking charge of his first competitive matches in Angola.
The team, led by former NBA forward Chimezie Metu, also includes Stan Okoye, Ike Iroegbu, UC Iroegbu and Caleb Agada. Nigeria will face Tunisia on 2 July, Guinea on 3 July and Rwanda on 5 July as they bid to strengthen their qualification hopes for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Fizdale will be assisted by David Vanterpool, Ekpe Udoh, Caesar Adim and Deji Akindele. The squad also features Daniel Utomi, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Christian Mekowulu, Martins Igbanu, Wesley Iwundu, Michael Eric and Paul Dibal.
The qualifiers begin on Thursday in Angola, with Nigeria aiming for a strong start as they seek a return to the global basketball stage.
