The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has ordered the immediate activation of the Chiefs of Defense Staff Committee standby force.
ECOWAS President, Omar Alieu Touray, gave the order while reading the resolution taken at the Extraordinary meeting on the Niger coup in Abuja yesterday.

At its meeting, the regional bloc stated that all efforts to dialogue with the Niger junta have been rejected by coup leaders.
The ECOWAS leaders, once again, condemned the continuous detention of ousted President Mohamed Bazoum and his family members.
