THE Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday gave reasons why it did not sign the peace accord of the National Peace Committee led by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Addressing a press conference at the party secretariat, the Chairman of the PDP in Edo State, Tony Aziegbemi, along with the governorship candidate of the party, Asue Ighodalo, and other leaders of the party said several members of their party have been arrested and taken to Abuja.

Mr Aziegbiemi, citing bias, accused the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of being in an alliance with the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He added that the PDP would be ready to sign the peace accord if all of their members currently in custody are unconditionally released, or brought before a court of competent jurisdiction in compliance with all civilized constitutional processes if they have committed any crime.
