EFCC Seeks Extradition of Diezani Alison-Madueke

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has obtained an arrest warrant and commenced extradition proceedings for former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Mrs Alison-Madueke appeared in a court in the United Kingdom yesterday, where she is facing bribery charges.

In a statement signed by EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale, the Commission welcomed the development, adding that no crime can go unpunished.

It also stated that the money laundering charges against the former Minister, for which she is answerable to the EFCC, cover jurisdictions in Dubai, the United Kingdom, the United States of America (USA), and Nigeria.

The Westminster Court in London has granted Mrs Alison-Madueke bail in the sum of £70,000.
