Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has filed a fresh 10 billion naira fundamental rights suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, alleging the anti-graft agency repeatedly denied his wife and son access to him in custody.
In the suit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, El-Rufai says the denial, including a July 7 incident in which his family was allegedly restrained and intimidated, breached his constitutional rights and prevented them from bringing him food and medication.
He is asking the court to declare the ICPC’s conduct unconstitutional and to order unhindered family access going forward.
The ICPC has denied the allegation, saying it has never denied access to El-Rufai’s family in line with an existing court order.
